Learn about the Enphase Battery

Updated over a week ago

Enphase 5p Battery

The Enphase 5p Battery is versatile and can be used as a backup or a non-backup battery. One of the advantages of the batteries is their stack-ability, allowing for easy customization to meet your battery needs.

As a non-backup battery, the Enphase 5p is designed to maximize benefits for homeowners in a Net Billing program, particularly for utilities on a NEM 3 program or similar.

As a backup battery, the Enphase 5p can provide the same benefits as the non-backup batteries while also ensuring power during outages.

Enphase Battery Monitoring:

Overview:

Enphase's battery monitoring is facilitated through the dedicated Enphase Monitoring App. This app provides a comprehensive view of system monitoring, allowing users to monitor both solar system production and battery capacity.

Monitoring Apps:

You can utilize the Enphase Monitoring App to monitor your solar system's production and battery capacity seamlessly within a single application.

Activation Process:

Full access to the monitoring application will be granted once your system is fully activated, enabling you to track and manage your system's performance effectively.

Setup:

Registration:

To begin registration, download the Enphase Enlighten App on your phone and sign in with your account login that was emailed to you by Better Earth, once your system is fully activated.

What The Enphase Battery Can Backup:

Non-Backup Battery:

The non-backup battery version does not provide power to the home during a power outage. Its purpose is to store excess energy produced by your solar system and sell it back to the utility grid when buyback rates are highest. These batteries are available only through utility companies that offer NEM 3.0, such as California.

Backup Battery:

The backup battery version will be able to provide the home power during an outage. It can be configured to connect to specific electrical loads, ensuring that essential appliances and breakers are powered in the event of an outage.

Warranty:

Enphase Battery Warranty:

The Enphase 5p Battery is backed by a 15-year warranty, providing assurance and reliability for an extended period.

FAQ

Minimum System Size:

  • There is no minimum system size required to install an Enphase battery, as long as the solar system size meets the minimum 6 panel requirement.

How Many Can Be Installed:

  • A minimum of 1 Enphase Battery and a maximum of 4 Enphase Batteries can be installed at a time. These are the recommend amount of batteries based on your annual usage.

    • 1 Battery for annual kWh usage of: Less than 6,000 kWh/year

    • 2 Batteries for annual kWh usage of: 6,000-12,000 kWh/year

    • 3 Batteries for annual kWh usage of: 12,000-18,000 kWh/year

    • 4 Batteries for annual kWh usage of: 18,000-24,000 kWh/year

Purchase Options:

  • Enphase battery systems can be purchased outright along with the solar system.

  • The batteries can also be financed along with the solar system.

  • Alternatively, the batteries can be financed independently if you decide to add them to your system after your solar system has been installed.

Project Timeline Impact:

  • Installing the Enphase battery does not affect the project timeline, as it does not add significant complexity to the design, permitting, or interconnection process.

Specifications of Enphase 5p Battery:

  • General specs:

    • It does not provide backup power functionality.

    • Total Capacity = 5 kWh

    • Usable Energy = 5 kWh

    • Continuous Output = 3.84 kWh

      • These metrics are per battery.
